Ordförande i CCHR International är Jan Eastgate, som verkat mot psykiatriska övergrepp i snart 30 år. Hon kom ursprungligen från Australien och avslöjade bl.a. deep sleep-behandling inom psykiatrin i sitt hemland, vilket ledde till att metoden förbjöds och att patienter kompenserades av den australiska staten. Deep sleep var en dödlig mix av sömnmedel och elchocker under lång tid som användes för att medvetet bryta ner männsikor psykiskt.
